Time: Online registration takes approximately 20-30 minutes to complete.
Complete Registration in One Sitting: You can save your information and return to it later. However, you must submit your registration within 30 days. The system purges unsubmitted applications older than 30 days.
Read the Program Requirements: Read the program requirements listed in the ASTD Certification Institute Candidate Bulletin to make sure you are ready and that the CPLP program is right for you.
Note: Per ASTD CI, candidates may withdraw from the program until the last day of their registration window only. An administration fee will be charged (see the CPLP Candidate Bulletin for details). No refunds are given for purchases of ASTD membership. Once registered, no transfers across testing windows are permitted.
Know the Testing Schedule: You must select a test window during the registration process. The window you select determines when you will sit the exam and when you will submit work product.
Only Use Internet Explorer: The registration system only works with Internet Explorer. If you're using something else (e.g. a Mac), call ASTD Customer Care during regular business hours (EST) to register instead: 1-800-628-2783.
Employment History: Required - you must enter three (3) years of employment history with contact information.
Academic History: Required - you must enter the contact information for your most recent academic institution.
Professional References: Required - you must enter contact information for professional references who can validate your work and/or academic experience in the learning & performance industry.
Keep Your Credit Card Handy: You will be asked to pay the program fees during the registration process. The fee varies for ASTD Members versus Non-Members.
Tip! ASTD Membership is $180 for U.S. citizens - become an ASTD member before registering for the CPLP and you'll get access to all of the member stuff, plus pay $20 less in registration fees!
