Making the Business Case for CPLP Certification
The reasons for CPLP certification are simple:
Perhaps most importantly, the Certified Professional in Learning & Performance (CPLP) is based upon the ASTD Workplace Learning & Performance (WLP) Competency Model®. The ASTD WLP Competency Model® is recognized by government agencies - like the U.S. Department of Labor - as the professional standard defining the learning & performance profession.
The CPLP designation demonstrates to current and potential employers one's commitment to ethical work; one's ability to apply elements of a professional standard to one's work; and one's commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education in the field (necessary for maintaining the credential).
For many "accidental trainers," it offers recognition to those individuals employed as learning professionals who are already eminently qualified in all respects, but who lack a formal academic degree in learning & performance (in some cases, because such programs were not available when they attended college / university).
