Marguerite Barrett
Based in Hartford, CT, Marguerite Barrett is currently the Director of Learning & Development for the Talent Acquisition department of The Hartford.
In this role she is responsible for leading employee development initiatives as well as training programs that support the organizational development goals of Talent Acquisition.
Marguerite began her corporate career in 1997 when she joined the Chicago office of Lamalie Amrop International, at the time the 7th largest executive search firm in the world.
In 2000, when Lamalie was acquired by TMP Worldwide (parent company of Monster.com), Marguerite was tapped to lead, design and deliver a comprehensive system implementation and business process reengineering change initiative. This was a 2-year project involving offices in 12 countries in North American, Europe, and Asia/Pacific.
In 2003, TMP Worldwide spun off their executive and mid-level search divisions into Hudson Highland Group (HHG), at which time Marguerite assumed responsibility for all employee development initiatives for Highland Partners, the executive search group within HHG.
Prior to 1997, Marguerite was a graduate student at Loyola University, Chicago, working on her Ph.D. in English Literature and teaching undergraduate classes on Shakespeare and Intro to Drama.
In 2006, Marguerite served as the Director of Forums and Professional Development Networks (PDNs) for the Chicago Chapter of ASTD (CCASTD). She presented a proposal for turning Special Interest Groups into Professional Development Forums at the ASTD Leaders Conference (ALC) in Washington DC in October 2006.
Marguerite has a B.A. from the University of Chicago, and an M.A. from Loyola University, Chicago.
